Rocky Stops the Bad Guys
We arrived home about 30 minutes before normal after school. Rocky was in the den, my 11 year old daughter in her room and I was at back in the laundry area.
I heard Rocky alert then try to go through the front door. He was running from the front windows to the front door in full alert mode. He was banging against the door then running back to the window banging against it. I went into the room thinking someone had gotten in.
When you guys said to keep it real, I realize now what you mean! None of behaviors Rocky demonstrated at training were even a tenth of what he did. I have never heard or seen him so intense. My adrenaline kicked in just from hearing him. I went to the door to see what was going on. A young man I knew was on front porch. Rocky remained agitated and alert.
The guy asked if hubby was home and I realized it was a guy that I had had arrested. About that time, Rocky alerted again and tried to get out the door. There was another male in the bushes at the end of the house out of my line of vision. The first guy was already backing toward the stairs. I held the glass door with Rocky wanting out and told the guy not to come back.
The other guy moved into my line of vision just enough to see his arm. They got in his SUV but didn’t pull out. I started checking windows, they had backed up and were circling the back of the house, looking at the house. I took Rocky on the back porch and the men finally pulled off and left the farm.
I had these two men arrested for theft two years ago. We thought one of them was in jail and the one that showed up at the house was struggling to get by. He had been told to stay away from us and off our farm. I couldn’t identify the second guy. I did find out that the other guy I had arrested was on parole and had been rearrested the next night. The guy on the front porch had been a friend and worked for my husband. He was someone Rocky knew.
I am so thankful that I didn’t go out that door. But more thankful that you guys had taught me how to read and handle my dog and to have the confidence to trust him. He has saved the house from being robbed twice, kept strange men walking on farm away from me and now kept us safe in a potentially bad situation. The guy never knocked on the door. He never said there was someone with him.
I can never thank you guys enough for the training. -Roxanne
